  1. Keith Thurman vs Jan Zaveck UD 12R - WBO Inter-Continental Welterweight Title
  2. Bernard Hopkins vs Tavoris Cloud UD 12R - IBF Light Heavyweight Title

Thurman vs Zaveck results: Keith Thurman wins shutout decision in WBO eliminator

Keith Thurman didn't score one of his signature knockouts tonight, but he delivered a lot of punishment over 12 rounds, beating Jan Zaveck in a WBO welterweight eliminator, ostensibly earning a shot at Timothy Bradley, who defends next week against Ruslan Provodnikov. The judges had it 120-108 across the board for Thurman. BLH scored it 119-109.
For Thurman (20-0, 18 KO), this was the first time he'd ever gone past eight rounds, and he told HBO's Max Kellerman that he appreciated going the distance, and learning in the ring.
"Zaveck's never met the canvas. I was looking to land that one punch, but he has a tight defense, he keeps his chin tucked," Thurman said after the fight. "I'm glad I got to experience the 12 rounds. I learned that some people are tough. You've got to out-box them, you're not always going to get the knockout."
Zaveck (32-3, 18 KO) took some hellacious shots to the head and especially the body, but stayed on his feet the entire fight. His stubbornness was enough for Thurman's trainer to remark before round 12, "Fucker got a hard head." Indeed, Mr. Birmingham. Fucker got a very hard head.
Thurman probably won't be fighting Bradley, since that's a Golden Boy/Haymon-Top Rank no-go, but he's putting himself into contention for real. He looks like more than a hype job, and this was his best overall performance to date.

Bernard Hopkins wins another title at age 48

Bernard Hopkins didn't just win tonight, he convincingly defeated Tavoris Cloud and never had any real trouble, winning a clear unanimous decision to claim the IBF light heavyweight title at age 48, breaking his own record as the oldest man to ever win a world title in boxing. Scores were 116-112, 116-112, and 117-111. BLH had it 116-112 for Hopkins.
Hopkins (53-6-2, 32 KO) controlled the fight's pace for the majority of the bout, with an outclassed Cloud (24-1, 19 KO) getting schooled pretty clearly during the 12 rounds. Cloud, 31, did have some success, landing some good power shots, but he just wasn't in Hopkins' league in terms of ring smarts, and it made all the difference.
Hopkins landed 41% of his shots overall (169/417), and 48% of his power shots (110/227). Cloud was much busier, but landed a mere 21% of his shots (139/650), and 26% of his power shots (72/282).
After the fight, Hopkins gave Cloud a little respect, but didn't miss the chance to let everyone know that he'd done it yet again.
"He's a gutsy, strong young champion. I told him I won't be here for too long," Hopkins told Max Kellerman. "He'll be a champion again. But I've got a history of destroying young champions, and you never see them again."
Hopkins seems set on fighting until he's 50 years of age, which could conceivably only be two more fights, or could be as many as four. He said to guest commentator Andre Ward tonight that there's not enough money out there to put the two of them in the ring together -- Hopkins likes and does not want to fight Ward -- and the main contenders at 175 pounds right now look to be Sergey Kovalev, who is a dangerous puncher, and maybe Nathan Cleverly and Beibut Shumenov, who hold paper titles. There's also the chance that one of the better fighters from 168 pounds could move up, like the Froch-Kessler winner.
Cloud was simply out of his depth on the mental side of things tonight, which didn't surprise many people. You got the sense that he wanted to throw more punches, wanted to be busier, and wanted to do more, but Hopkins had the Jedi mind meld working, and Cloud was tense, tentative, and seemed to be thinking way more than was good for his approach. He's a physical fighter who does well when he throws punches in bunches. That just wasn't there tonight.

2013 ALL ENGLAND

ALL ENGLAND 2013 PREMIER SUPERSERIES-bc#15-(new updated 8 Maret 2013)

FINAL:

Liu Xialong/Qiu Zhihan

Indonesia berhasil meraih gelar juara all england 2013.
Chen Long pun mencatatkan diri sebagai Juara All England Tunggal Putera 2013.
Liu/Qiu berhasil mencatatkan diri sebagai Juara All England 2013.

DVD #393:

  1. Willie Nelson vs Michael Medina KO 1R - NABF Light Middleweight Title
  2. Evgeny Gradovich vs Billy Dib SD 12R - IBF Featherweight Title

Evgeny Gradovich beats Billy Dib for IBF featherweight title

Evgeny Gradovich was a short-notice opponent, but "The Mexican Russian" from Robert Garcia's Oxnard camp made his big chance count tonight, upsetting Billy Dib to win the IBF featherweight title on ESPN Friday Night Fights.
The result was a split decision, with Dib winning one card 114-112, and Gradovich winning the other two by the same tally. Outside of the judges, I saw only one person score it any closer than 115-111 for Gradovich, and nobody scored it for Dib, who was beaten up and worn down by the aggressive Gradovich. BLH had it 117-109 for Gradovich, as he was the clearly better fighter on the night.
Gradovich (16-0, 8 KO) is now in the featherweight mix, and quite frankly, a lot of contenders will likely be licking their chops to get a crack at him. He's a pretty good fighter, but Dib (35-2, 21 KO) was about as weak a "world champion" as there was in the sport, and Gradovich was very fortunate to get this shot against someone so totally vulnerable. That's not meant as any disrespect to Evgeny Gradovich, but he didn't suddenly become on par with the division's true best fighters, a league Dib was never in himself, despite the belt.
It's the first loss as a promoter, too, for 50 Cent, who was the focal point of tonight's broadcast and rapped Dib to the ring to the warm reception of nobody in attendance. About two people clapped after 50 made himself the star, while Andre Dirrell stooged like Gerry Brisco at his side.
In the night's main co-feature, Willie Nelson was very impressive, stopping Michael Medina in the first round on a pair of knockdowns. Medina (26-4-2, 19 KO) didn't really look aware of himself after the big right hand that dropped him the first time, but referee Arthur Mercante Jr allowed the fight to continue. As soon as it did, Medina was down again, and this time he hurt his ankle. ESPN's Bernardo Osuna reported after that it may have been broken, and the doctor was sure there was ligament damage. Medina left on a stretcher.
On Twitter, promoter Lou DiBella claimed that Nelson (20-1-1, 12 KO) would knock out Canelo Alvarez or Keith Thurman, and that he was the scariest fighter at 154 pounds right now. That's obviously a huge stretch -- Nelson is not even top ten in the division at the moment -- but the 6'3" Ohioan does have an interesting future, it would seem. He's gotten better with his balance, he's got better defensively, and his punches seem to have more steam than they did when he fought and lost to Vincent Arroyo in 2011.
Personally, I think Nelson, 25, is definitely someone to watch out for. Guys with his dimensions are rarely fighting at 154 pounds, and as he improves, he does start looking more and more dangerous. Medina is no all-star, but he's not a bum, either. Nelson wiped him out.

DVD #392:

  1. Gary Russell Jr. vs. Vyacheslav Gusev - UD 10R Featherweight Bout
  2. Richard Abril vs. Sharif Bogere - UD 12R WBA World Lightweight Title

Richard Abril defeats Sharif Bogere for the WBA Lightweight Title

LAS VEGAS -- Richar Abril defended his WBA lightweight title with a unanimous decision against Sharif Bogere on Saturday.
Bogere turned the bout into a brawl early, pressing forward to get inside and frustrate the taller Abril.
Abril was forced to wrap up Bogere in defense and both fighters tumbled to canvass more than once during the fight. Abril was docked one point in the eighth round for holding and Bogere was penalized one point in the 12th for leading with his head.
"I don't like fighting dirty fighters and I lost my concentration," Abril said. "I thought I won the fight even though it wasn't clean."
An accidental head-butt opened up a large gash over the right eye of Abril in the sixth round which seemed to energize both boxers and sway the momentum toward the champion.
"I had confidence in my corner, " Abril said. "The blood didn't disrupt me, I am trained for situations like this."
Abril's activity increased and he was able to create the distance needed to use his length. Abril weathered the storm and found his range in the later rounds, landing effective combinations to keep the charging Bogere at bay.
The judges scored the bout 115-111, 116-110 and 116-110. Abril improved to 18-3-1 (8 KO's) while Bogere suffered his first loss and fell to 23-1 (15 KO's)
In the co-main event, featherweight prospect Gary Russell Jr. remained undefeated with an impressive 10-round unanimous decision over Vyacheslav Gusev.
Russell wobbled Gusev late in the first round and sent him to one knee in the third with a big right hook.
The southpaw Russell appeared to have injured his left hand during the seventh round and used it sparingly for the rest of the fight, but it had no bearing on the outcome.
"I'm not sure if I broke it," Russell said. "I know I was in a lot of pain. Great fighters are willing to make necessary adjustments in the ring."
Russell maintained his dominance throughout the fight with a steady jab and lightning quick combinations to defeat the Russian Gusev and improve his record 22-0 (13 KO's).
